Throughout our lives we’re constantly bombarded with ideas and ways to “improve” our health. Quick fixes or the value of success is preached to us as a way find happiness. But researchers have found that the true value lies in those we surround ourselves with. A Harvard study spanning 80 years claims the key lies in the connection of community.
Community can be found in a variety of ways, whether it be through family, friends, neighbors, or other commonalities. When we gather together for a common purpose, we open up the ability to create connection which can lead to stronger community. This sense of community can create security, stability, peace, joy, etc. These feelings then translate into an overall feeling of happiness and life satisfaction. When we choose a positive community, we are choosing an opportunity to lead healthier and happier lives.
