CASE STUDY: Sprint

Keeping employees healthy together

Our History

Sprint and Corporate Fitness Works have shared a commitment to employee wellness for 30 years. The “grand re-opening” of Sprint’s corporate fitness center is part of the journey.
Corporate Fitness Works is a pioneer in the corporate wellness and fitness industry, with more than 30 years of experience designing fitness facilities and creating comprehensive wellness programs. Sprint has entrusted CFW with its corporate fitness needs since 1985, when the company was known GTE Telnet. CFW designed and managed GTE Telnet’s first corporate fitness center at their headquarters in Reston, VA. When the company became Sprint and moved to Overland Park, KS, CFW designed a state-of-the art 70,000-sq. ft., three-story fitness center in the new location.

[/mk_blockquote]Sprint needed to rapidly refresh its corporate fitness center for a “grand re-opening” to the business park community where the headquarters campus is located, so they turned to CFW.

An Ambitious Plan

Corporate Fitness Works renovated Sprint’s fitness center on an accelerated six-week schedule, focusing on equipment upgrades and an exciting new layout.

CFW partnered with designers and architects to make the fitness center brighter and more energizing, offering insights into safe and beautiful design – including things like air flow, sight line and where equipment and outlets were placed.

CFW also ordered and installed $150,000 of new leased equipment, which they plan to refresh around every five years. Features of the redesigned fitness center include:

    • Functional training zone with a Life Fitness Synrgy unit, a Matrix Connexus unit and boxing equipment
    • Strive strength equipment in an area optimized for strength training
    • Group cycling studio
    • On-demand fitness room

A Successful New Beginning

[mk_blockquote font_family=”none” font_size_combat=”true” text_size=”20″]Our relationship with Sprint is one of the things we’re most proud of as an organization. The refresh of their corporate fitness center is the latest step on a long journey, centered on health and wellness.

[/mk_blockquote]Sprint and Corporate Fitness Works hosted the fitness center’s grand re-opening on Jan. 25, 2017. With the shift from being an employee-only fitness center to one that serves the entire business park, Sprint is among the first of CFW’s clients who operate like a commercial fitness center.

    • Re-opening attended by ~ 1,700 Sprint employees and contractors – about 24% of the total Sprint workforce on the headquarters campus.
    • The fitness center has just over 1,900 members and climbing.
